When the news dropped that Nintendo would be releasing both Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem for all mobile platforms, I was truly excited. I’ve loved Animal Crossing since its release in 2001 (which, to be honest, I might have played hooky from school to play). I was instantly hooked by all the cute animals and collection of fossils. I’d wake up, flip on the GameCube, and hunt around for all the X’s in the ground for me to dig up. I’d try to get all my friends to play, to which they’d reply “Oh, is that like Harvest Moon?”. They didn’t get it.

Oh, and I found out Fire Emblem existed because of Marth and Roy from Smash Brothers
Upon hearing these games were to be released on mobile devices, I started wondering how much money I’d have to fork over to play. I mean, games are $40 on release at the cheapest for 3DS. Then behold! The mobile gaming developer DeNa, partnering with Nintendo to release these two games on mobile devices, dropped the news that they will be free! Well, “free-to-start apps” is what was mentioned, meaning they’ll take the free-to-play model of in-game purchasing. That was stellar news to me! I guess Miitomo was a success and they’re replicating that business structure. Besides, I’ve always grinded through games, from solo-playing MMORPGs to solo-building a giant base on Studio Wildcard’s ARK: Survival Evolved. I’m sure not everybody is as patient as I am when it comes to this, so a lot of people will fork over some cash to get things and make it a successful launch.
Both games will be released for the iOS and Android platforms. Sorry Windows Phone.
Now we just need to wait for the Nintendo NX release coming March 2017.
