Noobenheim News for Nerds Tired of the typical first-party controllers? Microsoft has the solution for you and your Xbox. Usually, the standard controllers come in boring matte black. Xbox’s solution is an almost fully-customizable colorful controller designer called the Xbox Design Lab.
With this new program, gamers individually customize the colors of the front, back, D-pad, bumpers, and thumbsticks. You can also choose from a selection of different ABXY buttons, as well as a few view and menu button options. On top of color choices, for an additional cost you can add a laser engraving. Put a 16-characters message on the bottom-front of the controller such as your gamertag, name, or saying of your choice. Engraving will definitely solve the family disputes of whose controller belongs to whom. It’ll also be great to take to all your friends’ houses and not get everybody’s controllers confused.
According to Microsoft’s website, there are more than eight million ways to personalize this controller. You can even share your design via email, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or Microsoft’s own Xbox Activity Feed and Community Gallery.
Best of all, this controller comes with all the new features of the Xbox One S controller. That means it’ll have extended range, better grips, and Bluetooth which allows you to wireless connect to a Bluetooth PC and play.
The Xbox Design Lab is accepting orders now from the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. It’ll set you back $79.99 USD, but that’s only $20 more than a normal default controller. If you opt for laser engraving, that’ll be an additional $9.99 USD. Orders placed between now and August will be delivered in early September, otherwise Microsoft states other orders will be delivered within fourteen business days. They hope to bring the Xbox Design Lab to more markets in 2017.
