Have you heard about a comic called “Stray”? If not, you should check it out. It’s a superhero story from Action Lab, written by Vito Delsante with art by Sean Izaakse, about one of the world’s most famous superheroes being murdered throwing the team of heroes he formerly belonged to into disarray. His sidekick, who is also his son, begins a mission to find who killed his father, all while rediscovering his roots in crime-fighting and becoming a hero all over again. The action feels like the perfect blend of Batman (gadgets and costume) and Daredevil (the sweet dog-bone weapon) with a plot modernized from The Watchmen comics.

The first volume ran for four issues in 2014, and if you can’t find them a trade collection is also available. Volume two is currently in the works but needs our help! According to the Thunderclap page, a Kickstarter is starting up on July 7th to drum up financial support for a planned continuation of the Stray story. They are also working in conjunction with StubbyDog, a non-profit organization trying to help save the reputation of pit bulls, to raise money for the charity. Throughout the month of July, you can get a “Rescue The Stray” shirt from their Threadless page and all proceeds will go directly to charity. Be sure to check out their other shirts available later on as well for some sweet Stray swag.
If you enjoyed Stray, check out the new series of Actionverse comics on shelves now focusing on the other superheroes from that universe. Also, check out a few of my favorite Action Lab comics: Voracious, Tomboy, Puppet Master, and Southern Dogs. Comment your favorite Action Lab comic, and share for charity!
