Console’s ease-of-use
I feel the reason consoles won’t die off to the PC is because of simple ease-of-use. Think about this: the average parent won’t know how to replace a graphics card to its newer version inside of the computer, and to decide between AMD vs Nvidia with all the different models, it’s much easier just buying the kid a PS4. Not to mention owning and running a PC means managing the operating system as well, with antivirus needs and issues that arise much more consistently than any console.
What is the future of consoles?

Consoles can adapt to the concept of upgradable components like PCs, while also maintaining their current ease-of-use. The idea of modular computing isn’t a new one, and if it can be adapted to console gaming we could see a drastic change in the execution of consoles. New graphics card comes out? Just take out the old one and slide in the upgrade. This game needs more memory? Buy the Expansion Pak to play it or the game offers limited features without the upgrade. This way, people who need to own top-of-the-line components can do so while others can get by and play with what they can. You can even take components to friends’ houses if they don’t have the right components to play (I had to borrow the Expansion Pak from my friend to play Majora’s Mask).
What do you guys think? Is this the end of console gaming as we know it? Do you think module consoles are the future? Let us know in the comments below.
