The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I have sort of..mixed feelings about this trailer.

First thing in the trailer: voice acting. I’m not against the voice acting instead of the normal grunts and sounds. I’m not a fan of when she says “Wake up Link.” That might not be in-game, but I hope they keep allowing you to name your character. There’s really no reason for me to be against it; I always name my character Link anyway. I feel it ruins the player immersion though.

Did he just wrangle that horse??

Second thing I notice in the trailer is the very diverse, interactive, and gorgeous world. As much as I love realistic graphics and wondering to myself “wait, is this gameplay or a movie clip”, if the Zelda series ever went in that direction I’d lose a lot of the nostalgia. The cartoon cell-shaded look suits this game very nicely in my opinion. It’ll be strange having wildlife present in the game.

The mixed feelings I get come from a lot of the environmental interaction however. I see him cooking food (with possibly failure rate?), hunting boar, and basically playing pranks on goblins with the bees and the rolling boulder. I think I just enjoy the old-fashioned hack-and-slash too much that this bothers me. If these types of interactions are sparse I’ll be okay with it. If Link would rather not fight head-on throughout the game, I have a problem with it.

Last negative comment is he’s using a spear? I know he also has a sword, and there’s the rusted Master Sword at the end which I’d love to know the back story. Comment down below what you think of the trailer.
