Could Norman Reedus, current walker-hunter in AMC’s The Walking Dead, star as the next incarnation of Ghost Rider?
Promoting his new AMC show Ride with Norman Reedus in an interview with Uproxx, obvious motorcycle enthusiast Norman Reedus said he would love to play the spirit of vengeance.
With the MCU expanding everywhere like a true universe, it seems like no stretch of anybody’s imagination that Marvel wants to showcase as many quality features as they can. They recently reacquired the filming rights to Ghost Rider from Columbia Pictures in 2013, so it’s certainly possible. As entertaining as it was, Nicolas Cage told MTV his portrayal of Ghost Rider was complete.
I’d love to see Nicolas Cage in another part of the MCU, but I do agree he needs to pass the handlebars over to somebody else. Nicolas Cage admires Marvel; his stage name comes from Luke Cage in Marvel comics. As such, I feel his appearance and iconic nutty acting would place well as a villain. Let’s see him as Norman Osborn in the reboot of Spider-Man!
Netflix has been showing success with its Daredevil series, and future expansion plans show the Punisher having his own series soon. Netflix has Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, the Punisher, and Iron Fist at its disposal, and will release a team-up The Defenders series with those characters. Why not add Ghost Rider into the mix? Ghost Rider was part of the (Secret) Defenders in the comics in the early 90s, so putting him into the team isn’t a stretch.
With the Walking Dead being so popular, and of course his excellent portrayal in Boondock Saints, Norman Reedus is rocketing to higher levels of fame. Marvel obviously loves to release success with its properties. Norman Reedus being brought into the MCU seems completely likely eventually. Who could he better illustrate than Johnny Blaze? He already played Scud in New Line Cinema’s Blade II, but there can always be crossovers between past Marvel films and the MCU.
Make sure to show him some love by checking out Ride with Norman Reedus premiering June 12th on AMC.
