The new Yu-Gi-Oh! movie, already released in Japan and making its way to westerners early next year, will once again feature the talents of the original English actors. Dan Green will return as Yugi Moto, while Eric Stuart will continue his role as Yugi’s infamous rival Seto Kaiba. Mokuba Kaiba will also be voiced by Tara Sands just as she did in the original series.
What kind of Yu-Gi-Oh! movie would it be without the gang? Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, Tea Gardner, and Bakura will also be joining in this adventure. No confirmation as of yet whether their original voice actors will also be returning. I hope Dwayne Tan and his amazingly out-of-place Brooklyn accent at least rejoins the cast because I couldn’t recognize Joey Wheeler otherwise.

The events of the film occur one year after the events of the Duel Monsters series. It released in Japan with the MX4D technology, which seems pretty astounding. As this is well after the end of the original series and with the popularity of Yu-Gi-Oh! not what it used to be, I’m not even convinced it’ll be playing on regular movie screens upon release unless it opens to limited theaters for us who love the nostalgia. I’ll be excited to see it either way.
