Have you ever wondered what your pet is thinking? Ever look at an animal in the zoo and imagine what they think of you? A new ongoing from Aftershock Comics looks to explore that idea in ANIMOSITY. Written by Marguerite Bennett with art by Rafael de Latorre, the story begins with animals mysteriously gaining the ability to speak to humans, and then things get ugly real fast.
Wild animals and those kept in zoos and farms are immediately hostile and attack the humans, the catalyst of their misery. Mass hysteria ensues and much blood is shed, so this book is definitely not for less mature readers (not to mention the extremely harsh language). House pets that are more sympathetic to their humans decide to protect their masters from the onslaught on attacks from less domesticated creatures. One particular dog, Sandor, and his owner, Jesse, become entwined in the massacre in New York City and soon find themselves on a journey across the country to find the one person that can save the world, possibly returning the world to normal. It’s essentially a coming of age apocalypse story about a girl and her dog.
If you enjoy books with dark humor (and I’m talking super dark) and are a big animal lover, look no further than Animosity. It feels like if Disney movies became real in our world but the animals could act realistically to situations today, with no holds barred on what they say and do.
